Kevin
is a multi-talented and hard-working Information Technology
Professional. He has over 10 years of experience as
a Systems Administrator. He has received multiple awards
from the Department of State including The Meritorious
Service Increase, The Meritorious Honor Award, The Franklin
Award and many Extra Mile Awards. In 2005, he served
the Secretary of State by being chosen for the Hometown
Diplomats program. In this program he returned to the
U.S. to speak to the media and students about careers
in the Foreign Service. In 2005 he received a special
commendation and letter from Secretary Rice for his
work.
His
Work
He is a hard working, motivated, high-spirited
and talented individual. In 2006 he published his first
novel available at Amazon.com and Borders Bookstores.
His passion is Computer Systems. He is always searching
for ways to streamline and make more efficient the process
of Information Systems that occurs at the Embassy. Naturally
a great speaker, Kevin enjoys holding informational
sessions in order to help Embassy staff become more
proficient in various systems areas.
He also donates much of his time speaking
to University students about various Computer Technology
topics including secure systems, computer forensics
and careers in the Information Technology field.
Before
the Foreign Service
Before working for the Department of
State, Kevin was a Systems Administrator in private
industry for six years. His first career however was
in radio. From 1982 (at the age of 14) until 2001, he
performed various jobs including normal announcing duties,
sports announcing, and his favorite; being a News Reporter
in which he won numerous awards. He recently received
the "Lifetime Achievement" award from the
National Association of Broadcasters for his nineteen
years of success in radio. At his current post, Lima,
Peru, he had his own show, in Spanish, on the country's
largest station.
What
are Kevin's other passions
He
is outspoken about the future direction of computer
technology an often speaks at schools and Universities
about the affect of computer criminals such as hackers
on the industry. He has often assisted local RSO's in
helping host nation’s to apprehend computer criminals.
They
say the sky is the limit and that is literally the truth
with Kevin. He enjoys flying various types of recreational
aircraft and is working towards his FAA Private Pilot
and Instructor license and enjoys flying on the weekends
to take camping trips to remote areas. He also gives
his time and much of the royalties of his novel "Gypsy
Dreamer" to charity by assisting with local orphanages
and the poor with serious medical problems.
Kevin's enjoys serving his country
in the Foreign Service as his father enjoyed serving
in the military for more than twenty years. His current
goal is to become the best systems professional he can
be and continue in doing what he does best.
